So simple yet so beautiful...

I suppose I wanted to see how this image translated into a smaller, web sized version.

Its subtle hues do not translate as well to this format in my opinion, but it still makes for an interesting viewing experience.

I'll be sad if I ever grow tired of snapping the flora and fauna around me...

Heck, at this point I grow sad every time I have to put down the camera. LOL!

Can't wait for the light of summer, the opportunity for photographic road trips and still more chances to make mistakes and learn form them...or not make them.

Watch this space............

Superstition

Oh dear. My friends at Isle of Jura have gone and combined two of my favorite things...Ankhs and Single Malt. I feel a rush towards the nearest, closest retailer coming on...except for the fact that its currently 12:34 in the A.M. and I have to wait until tomorrow, at the very latest.
HUMPH!
Definitely something I will write about once it's passed my sweet lips, hit my eager and waiting tongue and passed down the ole throat. Oh My...
If Bec were still alive I have no doubt a bottle would have arrived in the post
the moment it became available...
either that or there would be a bottle waiting for me when next I came to visit her in her re-located country of Wales. Now there was a woman who could appreciate a good glass of single malt...the gentle curve of a woman's neck AND a good game of Cricket all at the same time. Miss you girl. Rebecca Van Der Putt RIP

Textured Tile

This is the first time I feel that a picture won't get the credit it deserves...this web size version does not do the original justice.
This wall has an amazing array of colours, textures and patterns. It was a 'new' discovery of mine the other day as I continued celebrating the fact that I do not live anywhere where it is 'a certain number of degrees below zero'. Not even close.
And still I pout when the sun isn't out. Life is good...the sun is here again...the birds are singing and there are things in my city I can explore.

Giddy Up!

I am a spoiled Californian. I've been all over the world, don't get me wrong, but I know I love home and home is California. It's a huge state and I'd like to be more specific, but I can't be. I love every inch of the Golden state and when the sun hides away I get cranky. I survived 7 years in The U.K., with as many gray days as I've ever seen and you'd think I could survive a
few cold ,rainy days in good ole Sunny Ca., but no...when it rains, I pout. The above picture is the result of how I celebrated a 'non-rainy' day recently...I took pictures of my surroundings. Looked at my current home town with a new set of eyes -as it were. The above picture is for Amedeus Photo who has a thing for horses ;-) and who took a snap or two of this same wooden beauty at night as we made our way around town on a recent visit of his. I have to admit, I prefer to see this particular steed lit up and shining brightly in the SUN!

Do you know what kind of plant this is?

<-----------Do you know what kind of plant this is?

It is my fondest hope that someone someday will read this and leave me a comment letting me know what type of plant this is.

This little guy is a cutting-the last surviving leaf-from

a plant that used to belong to my Mom (now deceased).

If this little guy doesn't make it, I'll be mighty sad. So far it's sending out roots and looks to be doing well BUT I have no idea what killed off the 'host' plant, so I am afraid that when I plant this guy, it'll be not long for this world.

Fingers crossed. It could use a few friends though, so what the heck is it?

Again...

"Either/Or"

"You can be a muse or a model" they said.
"But I want to be a painter," I said.
"You're a woman," they said "That means muse or model...but if you're really lucky you might get to be both."
HUMPH!
Been carrying around this postcard from Cath Tate
cards ever since I lived in Oxford.
It always finds a place in my main studio, somewhere
and every now and then I stop and take a re-read.

I always wonder why I feel that it still has to be this way..."either/or"
and rarely "and"... we haven't come as far along as we'd like to think we have
Mother/Whore
Wife/Mistress
Model/Muse
Grrrrrr!
